IT Technician

The IT Technician maintains the Network Infrastructure as instructed by the IT Coordinator (both hardware and software) to ensure its peak performance and to meet the needs of its users and manages the Help Desk Function as required.

Job Specification:

• Administers the company’s (LAN) network and executes user access rights.
• Proactively identifies problems and improper functioning of the network, resolves network problems providing efficient and timely solutions.
• Troubleshoots network systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
• Monitors, maintains and repairs the company’s data and internet links.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.

• Implements and maintains the approved electronic Help Desk solution in conjunction with the IT Coordinator for the daily monitoring and planning of the Company’s work to support issues faced by end users.
• Prepares a daily plan based on issue priority and defined Key Performance Indicators 
• Troubleshooting computer hardware, software, or network.
• Maintenance - cleaning, modifying, and repairing computer hardware including evaluation of company hardware and software
• Providing good customer service in person, over the phone or via emails, regardless of the method employed to resolve the user problem
• Supports the installation of application software such as Office 365, Sage and Micropay.
• Manages with the Systems Administrator the inventory of all IT consumables and ensures that approved stock levels are always maintained.
• Submits monthly to the IT Coordinator Helpdesk and Inventory reports.
• Participates on special projects as determined by the needs of the Company.

Person Specifications:

Minimum Acceptable Academic/Technical/ Professional Qualifications

• An appropriate Degree in the IT/IS field
• A+ Certified Technician (Computer repairs)
• Two (2) years experience in a similar environment

• Excellent Networking Skills.
• Experience in installing and troubleshooting computer systems.
• Experience in installing/ configuring peripherals.
• Familiarity with Windows Operating Systems.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organize work activities for efficient performance.
• Ability to work as an effective team member.
