The Human Resource Management & Administration Manager, the IT Technical Support Officer is responsible for providing technical support services, maintaining computer systems and networks, and ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the entity’s information technology infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

A. Technical / Operational Responsibilities

  • Provides first-line technical support to users by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues
  • Installs, configures, and maintains computer systems, applications, and peripherals
  • Monitors IT systems to ensure optimal performance and security
  • Performs routine maintenance and upgrades of hardware and software
  • Assists with network administration, including connectivity and access issues
  • Maintains records of IT equipment, licenses, and service schedules
  • Provides support for email systems, printers, and other office technologies
  • Assists in the implementation of new IT systems and applications
  • Ensures data backup procedures are executed and maintained

B. Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepares periodic reports on IT operations and support activities
  • Assists in identifying IT resource requirements
  • Maintains documentation on systems, procedures, and user guides
  • Liaises with external vendors for repairs, servicing, and procurement
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / STANDARDS

  • Technical issues are resolved within agreed service timelines
  • Systems and networks maintain high availability and minimal downtime
  • IT equipment is properly maintained and tracked
  • Reports are accurate and submitted within required timeframes
  • Users receive timely and effective technical support
  • Data integrity and security protocols are maintained
  • Documentation is current and properly maintained

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Functional / Technical Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking systems
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Working knowledge of operating systems and standard office applications
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles
  • Ability to maintain IT documentation and records

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May be required to provide on-call support

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in IT support or a related field
  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant applications
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
