IT Systems Administrator

Aventa Jamaica is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to join their team. This is a key role responsible for managing their IT infrastructure and ensuring the security, stability, and efficiency of our systems. Key Responsibilities:

• Administer local and wide area networks, servers, system software, and user configurations.
• Provide first-line support to users, diagnosing and resolving hardware/software/network issues.
• Manage user access and security in line with authorized protocols.
• Implement and monitor cybersecurity protocols to protect company assets.
• Maintain IT inventory and coordinate procurement and replacement of equipment.
• Support backup procedures and disaster recovery planning.
• Collaborate with Group IT on strategic initiatives and projects.
• Install and configure software/hardware on servers and user endpoints.
• Generate and manage reports from company systems such as VAI and Cognos.
• Provide on-call and after-hours IT support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required.
• MCSA/MCSE certification will be considered an asset.

Experience & Skills:

• At least 3 years of experience in a Systems Administrator or IT Technician role.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and TCP/IP.
• Proficiency in VMware virtual environments and FortiGate firewalls is a plus.
• Familiarity with IBM AS400, SQL Server, Cognos, FortiGate, Avaya PBX, routers, and switches.
• Strong diagnostic and analytical skills with excellent communication abilities.
• High level of integrity and discretion.
• Willingness to work independently and after-hours when needed.
