IT Support Assistant

Department: Information Technology

Location: Kingston Jamaica

Reports To: IT Manager

Position Summary:

The IT Support Assistant provides essential technical assistance to ensure the smooth operation of the firm’s ICT infrastructure. Working under the direction of the IT Manager and in collaboration with the Network Manager, this position supports day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of systems that serve 30 plus users across both in-office and remote environments.

The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering prompt and courteous technical support to end users in a professional setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-level technical support to end users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Monitor system performance, backups, antivirus status, and network alerts to ensure ongoing operational reliability.
  • Assist with user account support in a Windows Server environment.
  • Configure and deploy laptops, and mobile devices for new and existing users.
  • Support firm applications, including accounting, audit and productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and related platforms).
  • Troubleshoot issues with printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT inventory.
  • Assist with user onboarding by introducing new staff to the system environment
  • Support ongoing security, including software updates and endpoint protection.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Manager or Network Manager as appropriate.
  • Provide remote support to staff working offsite and assist with connectivity issues.
  • Prior experience providing IT or technical support in a business environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server, and standard business applications.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles
  • Familiarity with backup systems, remote desktop tools, and endpoint security software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a professional office environment.
  • Experience in a professional services environment, preferably within an accounting or financial firm.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity fundamentals and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience providing IT or technical support in a business environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server, and standard business applications.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles
  • Familiarity with backup systems, remote desktop tools, and endpoint security software.
