IT Officer

The IT Officer installs, configures, upgrades, repairs computers and other IT equipment, handles user enquiries, and collaborates with the team to increase efficiency through IT solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Installs and configure computer hardware, operating systems and applications to ensure usability.
• Monitors and maintain computer systems and applications.
• Troubleshoots problems with computer systems including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, peripheral equipment, printers, telephone, effects repairs and or recommends further actions.
• Assists users by providing support for productivity tools including Microsoft Office Suite and business systems applications as requested.
• Replaces computer equipment parts as required.
• Follows work instructions and operating procedures to effect repairs, perform maintenance, and to setup a system or service.
• Assists with the roll-out of new equipment, applications and systems.
• Responds to helpdesk requests within agreed timelines, managing many open cases, while minimizing backlog.
• Keeps abreast of current trends in the information technology industry in relation to new hardware and software that may enhance work processes and the department’s functions.
• Assists with the research, testing and evaluation of new or upgraded hardware and software technologies.
• Any other related duties assigned.

Education/Training & Experience

• Associate Degree in Information Technology or its equivalent in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution and at least two (2) years’ experience in a position of a similar nature.  
  OR
• IT Certification in the following areas: CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) V3 Foundation Certificate, etc.
