Human Resources Officer

A financial institution located in Mandeville is seeking a Human Resources Officer to support the effective delivery of HR and administrative functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and highly organized professional with strong interpersonal and operational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and execution of HR plans, including manpower, training, and operational plans
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection activities, including advertising, screening, and onboarding
  • Administer employee records, including leave, attendance, and personnel data updates
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the performance management system
  • Assist with staff orientation and induction programmes
  • Administer employee benefits and welfare programmes (e.g. health, pension, group life)
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and labour relations matters
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and documentation
  • Assist with occupational health and safety initiatives
  • Support facilities and administrative functions, including procurement and maintenance coordination
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and HR-related documentation
  • Provide supervision to assigned support staff and ensure effective service delivery

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role
  • Professional certification or secretarial qualification would be an asset

Required Knowledge and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Jamaica Labour Laws and labour relations practices
  • Experience in recruitment, compensation and benefits, and HR administration
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and HR management systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
