Human Resource Officer

HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

 

 Job brief

As a Human Resource Officer, you will be responsible for various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management and compliance with Jamaican Labour Laws

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Recruitment and Onboarding  

  • Coordinate the recruitment process, including posting job vacancies, screening applications, scheduling interviews and assisting in selecting candidates 

  • Manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and new hires are introduced to company policies, culture and procedures. 

  • Conducting new hire orientation  

 

HR Policy Implementation  

  • Implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with company goals and local labour laws 

  • Ensure employees understand and comply with company policies, including code of conduct, attendance, dress code and other relevant regulations. 

  • Review and update policies as needed to reflect changes in labour law, organizational needs, or best practices.  

 

Performance Management  

  •  Support the performance management process by coordinating performance evaluations, tracking employee progress and facilitating performance reviews.  

  • Assist managers in setting performance goals and monitoring employee development.  

  • Identigy employee training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.  

 

Benefits Administration 

  • Serve as point of contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits and workplace issues 

  • Assist employees with inquiries regarding their benefits and ensure they are fully informed about their entitlements.  

 

Compliance and Legal Requirements 

  • Ensure compliance with local labour laws, health and safety regulations and company policies. 

  • Manage and document disciplinary actions, investigations and terminations in compliance with company procedures and labour laws.  

  • Maintain accuracte employee records and ensure confidentiality and data protection in compliance with privacy regulations  

 

HR Reporting and Data Management  

  • Maintain and update employee records, including personal details, contracts, attendance and performance data 

  • Prepare HR reports and analytics for management review 

 

Training and Development  

  • Help identify training needs within the company and coordinate employee training programs. 

 

Employee Offboarding  

  • Coordinate the offboarding process for departing employees, ensuring smooth transition and completion of all exit documentation  

 

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as HR Officer
  • Knowledge of HR functions 
  • Extensive knowledge of the Jamaican Labor Laws and disciplinary procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • BSc Human Resource Management 
  • Certificate in Industrial Relations 
  • Must have atleast 5 to 7 years of experience
