JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for overseeing HR functions within Abel Building Solutions. He/she will work closely with key executive management and handle all aspects of the HR lifecycle. This position involves providing leadership, consultation, and operational support to the leadership team and line managers on strategic and people-related issues.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure adherence to company HR policies and procedures, aligning with organisational standards.
  • Manage and monitor overall HR performance across the company.
  • Advise on manpower planning and ensure optimal staffing levels to achieve budgeted profit per employee.
  • Ensure timely filling of all budgeted roles in line with the company’s recruitment workflow process.
  • Ensure compliance with the Group’s Performance Management System, including the effective implementation of the annual Talent Roadmap deliverables.
  • Identify training needs, assess training effectiveness through post-training evaluations, and determine return on investment (ROI).
  • Support the Sector HR/HSSE Manager in maintaining employee classifications and conducting annual reviews of compensation.
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement and change management initiatives, collaborating with project teams, and leading specific projects.
  • Oversee the implementation and communication of the Performance Management System, ensuring the alignment of employees’ KPIs with business objectives and the timely completion of performance reviews.
  • Lead the Salary Review Exercise, ensuring salary increases and bonuses are paid accurately and on time.
  • Oversee the implementation and audits of employee benefits plans (e.g., pension and health).
  • Oversee employee communications, ensuring that staff are informed about their roles, responsibilities, and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct talent calibration sessions to assess and align employee performance, potential, and development needs across the organisation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of employee profiles on ERP system, regularly updating them to reflect any changes in personal information, employment status, or job details.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, ensuring compliance with ERP requirements.
  • Ensure the subsidiary specific delivery of Group induction and orientation programs for new employees.
  • Collaborate with the Sector or Group ER/IR Manager to:
    • Maintain awareness of the company’s employment and industrial relations climate.
    • Lead or advise on company negotiations.
    • Administer employee and industrial relations matters.
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings promptly and ensure grievance handling is in accordance with HR Bluebooks and Collective Agreements.
  • Provide support in coaching Supervisors/Managers on industrial relations, helping to build their IR competencies on a scheduled basis.
  • Organise staff employee engagement sessions/events as needed to communicate Sector ER/IR initiatives or updates.
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff with grievances or Line Managers addressing progressive disciplinary actions.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety and security standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all Ansa McAL policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or similar equivalent.
  • At least 7-8 years’ experience as an HR generalist, with exposure to supporting at the Executive level.
  • Demonstrated experience in Industrial Relations, including managing employee relations matters within a unionised environment.
  • Proven experience leading, managing, and developing HR teams.
  • A Master’s degree would be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
