The Human Resources Officer is responsible for managing all Human Resource and administrative functions for the company. This includes end-to-end execution of HR transactional duties, recruitment, employee relations, payroll input, compliance, and general office administration.

POSITION SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

The Human Resources Officer is responsible for managing all Human Resource and administrative functions for the company. This includes end-to-end execution of HR transactional duties, recruitment, employee relations, payroll input, compliance, and general office administration. The incumbent is expected to function independently and exercise sound judgment, with limited supervision from the Financial Controller. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of HR services and supports the company's overall manpower and service delivery objectives.


EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Human Resources generalist role
  • Sound knowledge of Jamaican labour laws and employment regulations
  • Working knowledge of recruitment and onboarding processes, compensation and benefits administration, and employee relations
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills

EXPERIENCE AND LEARNED DISCIPLINE

  • Demonstrated ability to manage HR and administrative functions independently
  • Experience with employment contracts, employee files, and HR compliance documentation
  • Knowledge of best practices in recruitment, selection, orientation, and termination
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality

WORK PRESSURE

The position demands the ability to:

  • Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Manage multiple HR and administrative tasks concurrently
  • Work outside of normal hours when necessary to support operations
  • Respond to staffing issues and urgent business needs at short notice
  • Make independent decisions within policy and legal guidelines
  • Engage directly with staff at all levels and represent the HR function professionally

MAJOR TASKS/DUTIES

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process for internal and external manpower placements
  • Prepare and issue employment contracts, letters, disciplinary documentation, and HR correspondence
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records (physical and electronic)
  • Coordinate leave management, benefits administration, and payroll input
  • Support employee relations by responding to queries, grievances, and disciplinary matters
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as NIS, NHT, PAYE, and HEART
  • Handle exit interviews and offboarding processes
  • Maintain adequate office supplies, records, and facilities management
  • Liaise with external service providers, government agencies, and insurance companies
  • Generate HR reports and maintain HR metrics dashboards for internal review
  • Support the Financial Controller with HR audits and administrative projects
  • Drive continuous improvement in HR and administrative processes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  5. HR reports and compliance documents are submitted on time
  6. All administrative duties are completed effectively to support business operations
  7. Staff records and documentation are updated and secured appropriately

  • Reports to directly: Financial Controller
  • Liaises with: Internal departments, statutory bodies, external clients, and service providers
