Human Resource Manager - Kingston

A large distribution company in Kingston is seeking an experienced Human Resource Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving HR strategies, policies, and practices to support the company’s goals and foster a productive work environment.

Position Summary:

The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of HR strategies, policies, and practices. This includes overseeing staff training, development, manpower and succession planning, and maintaining an effective HR function aligned with the company's objectives.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • Postgraduate training in Management (preferred).
  • At least 3 years of experience in Human Resource Management, with a strong focus on organizational design, manpower planning, and succession planning.
  • Proven ability to manage recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, training, and the disciplinary process.
  • Experience with performance management and creating rewards and recognition programs.
  • Strong project management skills and experience with HR systems.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align HR practices with the overall business objectives.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster open communication and trust within the organization.
  • Ability to manage change and drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a focus on team development and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of HR strategies and programs to support the organization’s long- and short-term goals.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding process, ensuring a proper system for paperwork and accountability.
  • Manage and refine orientation processes tailored for each position.
  • Develop and implement systems for tracking and maintaining vacation and sick leave.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s code of conduct and oversee the disciplinary process.
  • Lead the recruitment process to effectively attract, select, and onboard new hires.
  • Implement training and development policies and ensure training effectiveness for all staff.
  • Drive the development and execution of a talent management program, fostering a strong pipeline of internal talent.
  • Oversee employee benefits, payroll, pension scheme, and other services.
  • Participate in collective bargaining and develop a competitive compensation program.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
