The Human Resource Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function. This role involves developing and implementing HR policies, programmes and services that align with the company's strategic goals and fosters a positive workplace culture.

Position Summary: The Human Resource Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function. This role involves developing and implementing HR policies, programmes and services that align with the company's strategic goals and fosters a positive workplace culture.       

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

       Industrial Relations:

  • Lead and manage the company's industrial relations strategies, including negotiations, conflict resolution, and maintaining positive relationships with unions.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and collective agreements.
  • Provide support and coaching to Management in grievance handling and disciplinary action.
  • Provide support to employees to address and manage employee matters.

       Employee Relations:

  • Develop and implement employee relations programmes to enhance employee engagement.

       Organizational Development:

  • Oversee organizational change initiatives, develop continuous training and development programs and implement approved programs for the organizational development and organizational change initiatives.

       Team Leadership:

  • Lead, coach, mentor and support the HR team in the execution of HR activities.  
  • Function as a member of the Management team in respect of strategic management decision-making.

        Compensation and Benefits:

  • Oversee the development and administration of compensation structures and benefits programs.
  • Manage the payroll process and all related activities.

        Performance Management:

  • Oversee the performance management process, ensuring it aligns with company goals and effectively addresses performance issues.
  • Implement training and development plans to improve management capabilities in handling employee relations.

        HR Operations:

  • Manage HR operations including recruitment, performance evaluations, compensation and benefits administration, and employee records with a focus on ensuring fair treatment and adherence to HR policies.

        Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to employment and workplace practices and Human Resource policies.
  • Develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential HR-related issues.

         Budgeting:

  • Contribute to the budgeting process and manage the Human Resource expenses in alignment with the budget.

         Reporting:

  • Reporting on Human Resource metrics.

 EDUCATIONAL / SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification in a related field will be an asset.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in Human Resource Management with significant experience in industrial and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining processes and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent planning and supervisory skills.
  • Mediation and counselling capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop Human Resource teams and manage complex employee relations issues.
