HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

SUMMARY OF JOB:

 

 The Human Resources Manager  ensures that the organization has the capability to meet its strategic goals with the right resources, in the right roles, when they are needed, and by creating and supporting the right culture to make this happen. The incumbent  will therefore develop the Human Resources Strategic Plan to support the people, leadership and company framework so that it aligns with the strategy of the organisation and provides the platform for the desired culture. Through leading and developing a team of HR professionals, the HR Manager encourages  a culture of innovation, agility and high performance, adhering to the highest levels of integrity through the delivery of effective people programme leveraging the use of up-to-date technology.

 

KEY DELIVERABLES:

The incumbent will provide strategic leadership to the Management and Human Resources teams in delivering on the HR Strategy as follows:

  • Supporting Change Management Initiatives including participating on  relevant Committees, collaborating with leaders in championing change initiatives within the business and driving the Corporate Communications programme.
  • Leading the Human Resources Team to deliver on agreed HR programme objectives and also ensuring that they are developed to their  maximum potential within the Company’s performance management system.    
  • Leading the Recruitment and Selection Programme by partnering with leaders to determine resource priorities and competencies, identifying and exploring potential sources of recruits, providing expert HR advice on candidate selection and ensuring the  effective management of the resulting applicant experience.
  • Responsible for the effective administration of the Performance Management System to support the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives. This includes providing training and guidance to both leaders and employees on their active participation to deliver performance results and also to inform career and development plans.
  • Leveraging Training & Development opportunities to achieve both business results and build talent capabilities within the organisation to meet current and future objectives. Leading this portfolio encompasses researching, sourcing, and designing and as needed executing/ delivering training programmes and workshops.
  • Responsible for facilitating the Talent Review Programme which reviews our current talent “pipeline” to ensure that we have the appropriate talent in the right positions and at the right time to drive our current and future business. This can include recommending and implementing development initiatives, career progression and other solutions to close talent gaps and in support of succession plans.
  • Design and administer  the Compensation and Benefits  Programme to attract, retain and engage the right talent.  This will require proactively leveraging external networks to provide the organisation with competitive intelligence, keeping abreast of market trends that could impact  compensation/benefit programmes and developing the right compensation solutions. 
  • Responsible for the ongoing review, revision and proper administration of the Company’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures. Key requirements for success include adherence to relevant labour legislation, best practice in human resource management and  highly effective training workshops  which support the active participation of and administration by the leaders in the business.
  • Responsible for the Company’s Employee Relations  programme which creates and delivers people practices for developing and maintaining productive working relationships, inspiring employee loyalty, increasing employee engagement, and creating a positive company culture. 
  • Manage the Compliance Programme  which includes the Employee Disciplinary Process,  providing sound recommendations consistent with  good industrial relations practice and  mitigating risk to the business and support for the Company’s Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies as well as the Company Polices such as Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Conflict of Interest etc.
  • Manage the Human Resources Information System ensuring accurate and complete personnel records to support  business decisions and with strict adherence to requirements of confidentiality and data integrity.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Highly effective at influencing positive change at all levels within the organisation
  • Emotional intelligence used to build productive working teams and in conflict resolution
  • Solution oriented approach and use of critical thinking in arriving at solutions/decisions
  • Uncompromising approach to Ethics, integrity and professionalism

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A postgraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a leadership role in human resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated success in influencing and implementing change initiatives
  • Certification in Industrial Relations along with a track  record of success in leading the

IR portfolio.

  • Demonstrated success in recommending, developing, and implementing HR projects and solutions.
  • Experience in working with HRplus or an HRMS
  • Certification in Change Management is  desirable
  • Project Management certification is an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Expert knowledge of current Labour Legislation and Human Resources best practice
  • Knowledge of Industrial Relations practice within the Caribbean is an asset
  • Excellent Facilitation, Presentation and Communication skills
  • Excellent Organisational and Project Management Skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Working knowledge of HR technology programmes
