The Hospital Application Specialist is responsible for the implementation, configuration, support, and optimization of clinical and administrative healthcare software applications, mainly the Hospital Information Management Systems (HIMS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Support & Maintenance:
    • Provide first- and second-level support for hospital information Management systems (HIMS), electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), lab/radiology systems (LIS/RIS/PACS), pharmacy systems, and billing applications.
    • Monitor application performance and coordinate timely troubleshooting and resolution of issues.
    • Maintain software configurations, updates, and patches in coordination with vendors and IT teams.
  • Implementation & Integration:
    • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to map workflows and translate them into system functionality.
    • Participate in data migration, interface configuration (e.g., HL7, FHIR), and system integration with other hospital systems.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
    • Ensure systems are aligned with healthcare standards, data privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR), and internal policies.
    • Participate in audits, downtime drills, and risk assessments.
 
    • Qualifications:

      • Education:
        • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
        • Relevant certifications (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, HL7) are a plus.
      • Experience:
        • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in healthcare IT, clinical systems support, or hospital application management.
        • Experience with hospital workflows and clinical operations is highly desirable.
      • Skills:
        • Strong understanding of healthcare applications and system interoperability.
        • Proficiency in SQL, HL7 messaging, and healthcare software interfaces is advantageous.
        • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
        • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
