Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Heavy-T Truck Driver.

 

Overview / Responsibilites

The Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a truck with the capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials/equipment to and from specified destinations. The incumbent will be required to unload equipment from tractors/trailers as well as they may be required to use of automated routing equipment.

  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Communicate necessary information to bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable company, state and federal regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
  • Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance of equipment. Knowledge of components, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, etc. Report and record and issues found on pre-inspection, ensuring that all vehicles are deemed safe prior to operation.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires and installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
  • Perform all other related job functions as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 4 Driver's License
  • Valid Defensive Driving certification.
  • Police Certificate Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
  • Must have a valid license to operate vehicles with 3+ axels (Class 1 or Class 3). If required to drive a bus, must have a valid license to do so (Class 1 or Class 2). Must have a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Experience operating trucks and towing loads in an industrial worksite setting is required.
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
