Health, Safety & Environment Leader

Leads all health, safety, and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with Jamaican regulations and international standards. Conducts audits, manages risks, and supports safe, sustainable construction site operations.

The HSE Leader oversees all health, safety, and environmental programs for the project, ensuring full compliance with Jamaican regulations, international standards (OSHA, ISO 45001), and hospitality sector requirements. This role drives proactive risk management, conducts audits, and ensures the construction site operates safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with Jamaican safety laws, environmental regulations, and international HSE standards.

• Maintain all required permits, certifications, and regulatory documentation. • Liaise with Jamaican authorities during inspections and audits.

• Develop and implement site‑wide HSE policies, procedures, and emergency response plans. • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations with follow‑up actions. • Oversee fire prevention, security protocols, and environmental protection measures.

• Ensure all personnel follow HSE procedures, PPE requirements, and hazard reporting.

• Manage waste control, pollution prevention, and environmental sustainability practices.

Minimum Experience:

• 5–10+ years of HSE experience, preferably in construction or hospitality development.

• Experience in hotel, resort, or large‑scale commercial construction projects is preferred.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of OSHA, ISO 45001, HACCP, and environmental regulations.

• Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational abilities.

• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

• Ability to influence diverse teams and contractors.

• Proven experience in audits, safety program leadership, and emergency response.

Training & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Strong proficiency in Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.

• English proficiency required; additional languages are an asset.
