LOCATION:                             The job is based in Grand Turk but at the discretion of the Head of Department may be relocated to another part of TCI. Travel within TCI will be required

JOB SUMMARY:  

This is a technical position with responsibility for assisting the HPPU and supporting the health

policy and planning development initiatives. The job holder is also responsible for assisting the

Director HPPU in the development and implementation of health sector policies, plans,

strategies and programmes under the advisement of the MoHHS Director of Health Services, 

and members of the senior management team. He/she works with MoHHS units/departments

to develop, assess and update departmental health policies and plans and aids them in the

design and implementation of systems for monitoring and evaluating programmes, services and

activities.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the operations of the HPPU.
  • Assists the coordination of the health policy and planning projects,  programmes and initiatives in cooperation with governmental and nongovernmental agencies.
  • Assist the MoHHS with the development and formulation of health sector policies,

programmes, and strategies.

  • Assists with collaboration with MoHHS units/departments to design and implement health policies and plans (strategic and work plans) as to facilitate the achievement of departmental objectives and output indicators.
  • Assists with collaborating health units/departments to design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems for specified programmes, services and activities.
  • Assists with collaborating with the National Epidemiology and Research Unit (NERU) and
  • Strategic Planning and Policy Unit, in the maintenance of health information systems that will provide timely and relevant information for decision-making.
  • Assists in the preparation, monitoring and implementation of budgets for the MoHHS.
  • Provides supporting efforts involved with the facilitating of technical assistance and

training by regional institutions such as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)   and submission and/or review of its requisite reports.

 

  • Assists with the identification of sources of grant funding to meet financing gaps for health sector programmes
  • Supports the development of monthly, quarterly and annual reports of activities of the HPPU.
  • Adheres to all Public Service codes, rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to assigned work quantity, quality and time guidelines.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:

 

Qualifications:

 

Master's degree in the health services management, health management sciences or social

sciences with a specialization either in public health policy/planning.

 

Experience:

 

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a similar or related

field and demonstrated experience in health systems and public health.

 

 SALARY:        HEALTH SECTOR GRADE 8.1 $75,525.00 per annum

 

For persons recruited outside of the Turks & Caicos Islands a two-year extendable contract is

offered. Other benefits in addition to basic salary include a Housing Allowance, End-of contract

gratuity of 6%, return passages for a family of up to two children under the age of 18 years, freight cost and duty exemption on personal effects imported within six months of the appointment.
