On behalf of our client, a leading insurance provider, we are searching for a Head of Property and Casualty (P&C). The organization is established in the insurance industry in Bermuda. The position reports and assists the Global General Manager of P&C.

Main responsibilities                                                    

  • Collaborate with the Global Managing Director Property & Casualty to create, communicate and implement a global property and casualty strategy
  • Build and implement an ambitious and achievable growth plan based on proven P&C economic models, setting annual and long-term financial targets which will drive growth and profitability of the business in alignment with the Group’s risk appetite
  • Create a comprehensive set of performance indicators that focus, incentivize and hold the team accountable
  • Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines while managing the underwriting process, ensuring prudent risk selection, pricing and portfolio management
  • Display an entrepreneurial mindset, constantly creating and pursing opportunities to innovate driven by the voice of the customer.  This includes regular enhancements of the P&C product offerings
  • Responsible for investing in and maintaining strong client relationships along with strategic partner relationships within the local market and with global reinsurers based on trust and transparency with shared commercial risks and rewards
  • Strategic management of the P&C reinsurance program, identifying reinsurance needs, coordinating placement, negotiating reinsurance contracts and ensuring the best terms and coverage to mitigate risk exposure
  • Create, communicate and implement an operations vision and plan that leverages digital solutions to support scale, agility and efficiency
  • Ensure strict adherence to and compliance with regulatory requirements, staying updated on local regulations and industry standards
  • Manage the risk management process for the local P&C business and develop strategies for effective risk mitigation
  • Oversee the vendor management function of the local P&C business to ensure quality of services, cost optimization and risk mitigation while maintaining productive vendor relationships
  • Create a culture of prioritizing and delivering exceptional customer value and service which leads to customer loyalty and retention
  • Ensure that the local P&C team maintains deep knowledge of the customer key experience drivers
  • Provide dynamic and inspirational leadership that is committed to attracting, leading and developing a team within the  local P&C business all while providing technical expertise 

  

Qualifications and experience required:

  • A minimum of ten years in the Property & Casualty insurance industry or financial services experience at a senior executive level
  • Professional designation or formal qualification in insurance such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated proven experience of transformational change
  • Proven experience and expertise to strategically lead and grow a commercial and personal line P&C company
  • Strong business acumen, innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities
  • Ability to apply knowledge of latest trends and technology to improve daily operational processes
  • Strong proficiency working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional client value and service
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent leadership and teaming building skills
