Job Description
The Head - Strategy, Research & Partnerships is responsible for driving research, policy development and strategic development for the Agency, in order to provide the relevant quantity and quality of services in support of the national development agenda. Work involves policy development and advocacy, participating in planning activities at the national level as well as leveraging business intelligence and data analysis in order to provide relevant guidance and advice on strategy. The position advocates and conducts proactive outreach to build support for competitive incentives designed to promote attractiveness, reach, penetration and uptake for the country as a location and exporter.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Business Management or related field with a focus on Policy Development, Research Evaluation and Project Management from a recognised University
A Masters’s degree would be an asset
7-8 years’ experience in policy and strategy development, strategic planning and stakeholder management at a senior level, inclusive of experience in working with national policy and translating it into strategy within the trade and investment landscape
Key Accountabilities:
Lead and direct strategy, research and policy development
Champion research and development, drives policy advocacy and implements policy, and strategy for the Agency
Lead and direct financial incentives and grant funding initiatives
Strengthen private sector capacities to influence trade policies and participates more effectively in trade negotiations at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels
Build and manage stakeholder relationships and partnerships
Plan, organise, direct and control the activities of the Division
Provide highly effective line management for Division’s staff
Provide guidance and participate in performance management, coaching and development, and disciplinary proceedings
Report on performance of strategy and strategic initiatives
