The incumbent will develop Health and Safety Systems which will identify workplace hazards and create tailored solutions for the mitigation and control of these hazards at all PAL-MAR Holdings installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and assist in the implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits of company installations to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) Regulations.
  • Conducts evacuation and fire drills, report their effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate incident investigations and make recommendations for corrective / disciplinary actions where necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments in accordance with the OSH Act.
  • Coordinate the delivery of first aid and safety training.
  • Coordinate Safety & Health Committee activities.
  • Liaise with Health and Safety regulators and inspectors to include:
    • Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA)
    • Ministry of Labour
    • Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service
    • Public Health Inspectorate
    • Environmental Management Authority  
    • Assist in driving Health and Safety compliance across the group.
    • Deliver training and toolbox talks
    • Maintain OSH, incident and accident records
    • Coordinate compliance activities across the Group
    • Perform any other related duties as required.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge of applicable HSE legislation, standards, and best practices, including the OSH Act, EMA Act, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
  • Ability to interpret HSE data, identify trends, and recommend effective risk mitigation measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional planning and organising skills.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.

 Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field from a recognised institute.
  • Professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate, ISO 45001/14001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent) is an asset.
  • At least three (3) years experience in an HSE role, preferably within a FMCG environment.
