Supports the QHSE Manager by ensuring compliance with HSE policies, conducting risk assessments, audits, training, and incident reporting. Promotes a strong safety culture, manages environmental requirements, and maintains accurate HSE records.

Reports to: QHSE Manager

 

Location: Trelawny, St. James, Hanover

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure full commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, implementing company guidelines, integrated management systems, and applicable regulations.
  • Promote transparency, exemplary conduct, and open dialogue in all safety-related activities.

 

Policy & Compliance

  • Assist in developing and enforcing safety policies aligned with local and international standards.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, ISO, NEPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Stop work immediately if health or safety is compromised and report to the QHSE Manager.

 

Risk Management & Audits

  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, recommend mitigation measures, and communicate with staff to eliminate risks.
  • Perform audits and inspections to ensure workplace/site compliance.

 

Training & Awareness

  • Organize inductions for new employees, ensure PPE distribution, and conduct regular safety briefings.
  • Deliver HSE training programs and promote a strong safety culture across all teams, including subcontractors.

 

 Incident & Emergency Response

  • Report and investigate near misses, accidents, and risky situations; develop action plans and monitor corrective measures.
  • Prepare and implement emergency response plans and conduct drills for readiness.

 

Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, manage waste and pollutants, and maintain proper signage and protective equipment.

 

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare reports, maintain feedback records, and contribute to the company’s continual improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the QHSE Manager.

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
  • 1- 2 years of experience working in the field or similar field
  • Knowledgeable in First Aid, CPR  and other Safety procedures
  • Sound knowledge of  Health, Safety, and Environmental  policies and practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
