POSITION SUMMARY:

As the HSE Advisor (Environment) for this growing, dynamic company, your primary objectives are to:

• Support in the planning, coordination and implementation of the Environmental Management System at CGCL in accordance with international standards.
• Ensure compliance to statutory environmental requirements.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The HSSE Advisor shall possess knowledge of Environmental Management System Standards, Environmental Regulations and industry best practices and shall be able to execute the following  duties competently and effectively:

• Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans to ensure the Company’s sustainable development
• Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, , conservation and use of renewable energy
• Assist in the implementation of the Company’s environmental policies and practices
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with international regulations and legislation
• Audit, analyze and report on environmental performance to internal and external customers and regulatory bodies
• Conduct impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce the Company’s environmental risks
• Implement environmental management systems to continually minimize the impact on the environment by the Company

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION:

• BSc Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or the Natural Sciences from a recognized university.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the field of Health, Safety & Environment in a petrochemical environment, preferably in a methanol or ammonia facility.

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• In depth knowledge of local Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation
• Good understanding of current international standards for HSSE systems
• Knowledge of integrated HSSE Management System structure, resources for training and implementation of HSSE policies and procedures.
• Training in the auditing of HSSE Management Systems
• Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a high performance, fast-paced work environment.
• Highly proficient in the Microsoft® Office suite of applications
• Previous experience directly related to Methanol manufacturing or similar processes will be an asset
