The job incumbent performs a range of technical, professional, and administrative duties to ensure the efficient and effective performance of the various functions within the Corporate Services Department (CSD)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This job provides technical and administration support across the full range of HR and Corporate Services functions. In this regard, the individual must possess sound generalist HR and Administrative knowledge to perform the following duties –

 Policies & Procedure:

  • Conduct the research, formulation, development and communication of Human Resources and Administrative policies, procedures, programmes, and initiatives to support the development of a best-in-class human resource management system.
  • Ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures throughout the Company by providing HR advice/guidance to Line Management and Staff on issues to ensure compliance with Company policies and good Industrial Relations practice.

Performance Management:    

  • Administer and process the Performance Management System to ensure compliance with the appropriate performance management policies and good Industrial Relations practice.

 Industrial Relations:

  • Coordinate and make recommendations on disciplinary investigations/grievances/procedures/matters, conduct research, maintain records, attend meetings, and take minutes, and prepare all correspondence according to proper Industrial Relations standards, including recommending appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Form part of the Collective Agreement Negotiation Committee to assist with the Collective Bargaining research and manage correspondence for and between the Union and AVK.

 Recruitment & Selection:

  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection process so that positions are filled in a timely manner, from the beginning up to the onboarding process.

 Compensation & Benefits:

  • Process payment of all salaries, wages and compensation related issues.
  • Process enrolments, changes, and terminations of participants in all benefits plans and programmes to ensure conformity with contracts, agreements, and benefits plans.
  • Responsible for the Company’s benefits administration (insurance plans) from onboarding to enrolment.
  • Administers employees’ fringe benefits to ensure compliance with the Company’s policies and timely remittance.

Management Reporting:

  • Assist to prepare reports and attend Company meetings, including but not limited to Executive Management meetings, in order to present on CSD matters, alongside the Company Manager, Corporate Services in the absence of the Assistant Manager, Corporate Services.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly CSD reports as required by the GMCS and in accordance with the Company’s guidelines.
  • Research, plan and/or prepare business presentations, spread sheets and departmental reports in accordance with the Company’s guidelines.

 Supervisory:

  • Ensure the effective and efficient day-to-day operations of the CSD in the absence of the Company Manager, Corporate Services and Assistant Manager, Corporate Services.
  • Effective supervision of direct reports within the CSD through Human Resource related activities of the team to ensure growth and development to achieve department objectives and sustainability. This includes reviewing employee performance to identify strategies for gap closure and development, providing training, coaching, and mentoring opportunities so that staff are best positioned to achieve the departmental objectives.
  • Assist with the supervision and coordination of the daily duties of the Courier to ensure adherence to departmental and Company needs as required.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

  • A first degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management, or related Social Science discipline from a recognized, accredited institution
  • A working knowledge of Payroll Processing software; working experience with Micropay would be an asset
  • A working knowledge of National Insurance regulations and tax laws of Trinidad & Tobago

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in proven Training and Development, Recruitment
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a call center
  • Experience in Industrial Relations will be considered an asset
  • Proven experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with particular emphasis on Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook; Visio would be an asset
