Boutique Hotel in Kingston Jamaica seeks to fill the positions of (1) DUTY MANAGER (2) FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER

DUTY MANAGER

 Areas of Responsibility:

  •  Greet guests at check-in.
  • Conduct room inspections.
  • Follow up calls to guests regarding requests or concerns.
  • Resolve guests’ issues and complaints.
  • Build on-going guest relationships.
  • Be up to date on activities in and around the property and provide guest awareness.
  • Observe and monitor employees' performance to ensure that company rules and procedures are being followed. 
  • Knowledgeable about hotel policies and services.
  • Prepare and distribute report at the end of shift.
  • Respond to comments on review platforms (TripAdvisor, Expedia etc).
  • Act as an in-house Public Health inspector to ensure all departments are in compliance with all public health regulations.
  • Ability to respond and make decisions in emergency situations. 
  • Inspect property and monitor surroundings.
  • Promote and market the hotel in guest interactions.
  • Be first point of contact in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Ensure that all brand standards, policies, and procedures are being executed.
  • Deal with any emergencies, accidents, injuries, and security breaches.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed regarding Incidents and accidents.
  • Meet and escort all government and private inspectors to the property.
  • Uphold and enforce company policies.
  •  Keep track of monthly, quarterly, and yearly hotel goals.
  • Work with management to assess and improve processes and policies.
  • Monitor and report on revenue and cash flow.
  • Train new hires
  • Address employee complaints or performance issues as needed
  • Schedule shifts
  • Assist in creating the department’s budget.

Requirements

  • Work experience as a Duty Manager or similar management role.
  • Previous experience in the Hospitality Industry preferred.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of cash management and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Team management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with facilities maintenance and/or security.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Availability to work on shifts including weekends.
  • Tertiary education (Degree, Diploma) in Business Management, Hospitality, or related discipline.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Plan ahead and manage all food & beverage orders and staff according to budget.
  • Handle customer complaints regarding food quality.
  • Prepare alternative recipes to accommodate customers with special diets/food allergies
  • Order food supplies, track shipments and communicate with vendors
  • Ensure that food & beverages are prepared in accordance with established standards
  • Maintain the kitchen in accordance with food & beverage, health and safety regulations
  • Hire, train, and manage the food & beverage team
  • Collaborate with staff, vendors and the Management team for special events
  • Ensure that guests are welcomed into a clean and presentable environment
  • Manage, motivate and mentor all F&B staff to ensure quality service
  • Oversee the planning, costing and implementation of menus and wine lists
  • Ensure all employees work in a safe environment, and adhere to OH&S policies outlined in the company policy document
  • Manage, motivate and mentor all F&B staff to ensure quality service

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in hospitality management
  • A proven track record of managing food & beverage
  • Ability to work long shifts for special events and large crowds.
  • Ability to solve problem quickly and efficiently
  • Great customer service and communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of restaurant management software
  • Knowledge of different facets of food preparation e.g. prep, storage, drinks, alcohol presentation
  • 5 years experience in Food Management
