The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the direct management and handling of all warehousing and distribution functions at the organization’s warehouse facilities.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the direct management and handling of all warehousing and distribution functions at the organization’s warehouse facilities. This includes accountability for inbound and outbound goods, storage, handling and safeguarding and accuracy of all inventories, as well as adherence to legislation, safety and organizational policies and procedures. The Warehouse Manager will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT: 
  • Manage the receiving, handling, distribution, and storage of all freight, product, and supplies that come in and out of warehouses. ·
  • Plan warehouse capacity modelling (layout, space and throughput) requirements as well as implement stringent housekeeping rules in order to prevent loss or damage and to achieve full warehouse optimization.
  • Implement a Warehouse Layout that is in keeping with approved Stock Rotation policies for effective Inventory Management – e.g., FIFO. 
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction with respect to warehousing best practices and attention to quality documentation; briefing team leaders daily or as required.
  • Deliver overall thought leadership to the warehouse function with regards to creative warehouse management practices and integration recommendations
  • Resolve all issues throughout the warehouse lifecycle. 
  • Post to other sites/companies as assigned. 
  • Support the Company for requests outside normal working hours, including maintaining communication access, and developing contingency plans to deliver to customers as the need arises, and as determined by the Company. 
  • Responsible for Time and Attendance Administration within Department · 
  • Manage the Department’s expenses within budgeted levels, ensuring optimum value for all warehousing and logistics costs. 
LOGISTICS:
  • Manage both internal and external resources, timelines, and milestones across a vertical set of industries.
  • Provide detailed documentation, end user training and knowledge-transfer services to customers.
  • Support annually defined companywide strategic goals aimed at the continued expansion of the Group.
  • Collaborate with all Plant Managers on Finished Goods Inventory so that plans can be implemented for effective receipt and storage.
  • Continually review and update procedures and work instructions in compliance with ISO standards and other Audit recommendations.
  • Liaise with upstream midstream and downstream departments such as Supply Chain, Production & Sales/Marketing to effectively manage Inbound and Outbound Logistics; ensure effective turn-around time for all shipments that lead to customer satisfaction whilst minimizing costs along the logistics value chain.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT:
  • Safeguard inventory by ensuring it is properly received and stored.
  • Keep stock control systems up to date and making sure inventories are accurate; identify discrepancies between inventory records and take corrective action.
  • Keep equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; calling for repairs.
  • Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures and new or existing warehouse implementations.
  • Maintain stock accuracy by conducting physical counts on a scheduled basis, reconciling with data storage system.
  • Collaborate with the Group Finance Division on Inventory management and control.
  • Coordinate monthly/annual stock taking as required, capture learnings and ensure corrective actions are implemented to improve accuracy of inventory.
  • Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis or as required.
HUMAN CAPITAL (PEOPLE):
  • Enforce corporate policies regarding security and safety to maintain a safe working environment, including timely issuing of Initial Incident Notifications, completion of Accident Forms and submission to HR, and standard of care to staff who may become injured during work.
  • Continue professional and technical growth through corporate and personnel initiatives.
  • Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded; identify training and development needs of all reporting staff.
  • Work with QMS Teams to address non-compliances arising from complaints, process breaches or other non-conforming activities and ensure corrective actions are implemented within agreed timeframes.
  • Liaise with external customers/contractors/suppliers as and when necessary.
  • Performance Management of 3PL providers: SLA definition and enforcement

OTHER:
  • Compliance with all Policies.
  • Other Related duties as assigned. 
  • Maintain pertinent records. 
  • Assist in monthly/annual stock taking as needed. 
  • Promote safety awareness and the development of a Safety Culture within the company. 
  • Liaise with external customers/contractors/suppliers as and when necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSC, in Management Studies, Warehouse Management or related field Technical Diploma or certification in Warehouse Management
  • Any combination of experience in a related field is acceptable
  • Inventory Control & Reporting Skills
  • 6-10 years minimum in a similar capacity
  • Proficient in Microsoft OfficProficient in Reqlogic , Main smart and Dynamic Software 
  • Proactive and results-oriented 
  • Ability to supervise large and diverse teams 
  • Ability to mediate and de-escalate conflict situations 
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical practices.
