The Brydens Group is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position:

GROUP JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

Job Purpose:

To provide support for the Group Finance Function in all aspects of reporting, compliance, risk management and quality assurance, ensuring that corporate obligations are met and the Group Finance function can effectively partner with all stakeholders of the Business to drive performance and create value.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Manages the transactions and reporting related to identified subsidiaries (‘subsidiaries’) within the Group, including preparation of management accounts and other relevant analyses and reports
  • Maintains all general ledgers in VAI/Sage and monthly reconciliation of all major GL accounts of subsidiaries
  • Manages the tax compliance of subsidiaries including the calculation of taxes due (bi-monthly, quarterly, annual) and preparation of related filings, as well as arrangement of payments on behalf of the subsidiaries
  • Manages the banking portfolios of the subsidiaries including the preparation of covenant-related reports and coordination of annual reviews with bankers
  • Prepares annual corporation and deferred tax computations of the subsidiaries
  • Partners with auditors during Group and standalone audits, preparing audit packs and schedules
  • Processes and executes Group-level payments, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with approved authorizations
  • Coordinates monthly reporting of key AP balances with related payment plans by TT-based subsidiaries
  • Prepares weekly foreign exchange (FX) analyses for the Group to ensure visibility of currency volumes acquired and to assist with managing banking relationships
  • Assists with the maintenance of cash flow forecasts and treasury planning at the Group Finance level, to support all local and foreign payments relating to debt service, dividend distributions and Group costs
  • Provides support for the annual budgeting process of the Group including the preparation of budgeted P&Ls, cash flow forecasts, debt schedules, and other reports, as well as compilation of final budget presentations
  • Assists with the preparation of periodic consolidated financial statements and accompanying reports and analyses for internal and external reporting purposes (BOD, JSE, TTSEC, TTSE)
  • Coordinates with entities for periodic review of profitability analyses by product class, with follow up on agreed action items (including price adjustments and portfolio rationalization)
  • Prepares quarterly reports on Gross Profit (GP) return on USD by entity with follow up for pricing and portfolio adjustments where agreed
  • Manages the inter-company reconciliation process across all Group entities, ensuring accurate recording, classification, and reporting of balances, with differences resolved to achieve net NIL intercompany positions
  • Drafts accounting position papers for assigned entities or to support Group-level positions on specific transactions and accounting matters
  • Supports the management of the Group’s debt portfolio by coordinating funding, executing debt service payments, and monitoring covenant compliance, with recommendations for adjustments as needed
  • Leads the automation of manual processes and supports the implementation of accounting software to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Post-secondary Accounting qualification: Pursuing Level 3 ACCA / CIMA or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in accounting and/or auditing.
    • Or a relevant combination of training and experience.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with supporting multiple stakeholders simultaneously in a high-touch capacity
