The Group Financial Controller is responsible for directing the financial reporting for all companies in the group in accordance with IFRS, implementing policies and procedures and systems of control for the efficient and effective management of the Finance Department.

Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for the oversight of the financial operations of the company. Duties will include but not be limited to the development of a financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide leadership, direction and management to the finance and accounting team
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and members of the executive management team contributing to the Finance Department’s Strategic Planning process
  • Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgeting
  • Oversee the preparation of all financial reporting
  • Advise the company on long-term business and financial planning
  • Establish, develop and maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team, external partners and stakeholders

 

Job Requirements and Skills

  • Ability to prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant accounting software
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and formulate recommendations based on accounting information
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, confidentiality and professionalism in the execution of duties

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Master of Science degree in Accounting or Business Administration with emphasis in Banking & Finance
  • Chartered Accountant
  • Above average knowledge and understanding of the regulatory requirements for the securities industry (Financial Institutions Act, the Securities Act, the Banking Act, JSE Rule Book, Financial Investigation Division) and any other relevant Acts governing the financial industry
  • Knowledge of tax laws in Jamaica and St. Lucia
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a senior level in Banking and Financial Investments
  • Working experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Prior experience in operations, investment banking and audit within the financial services industry would be an asset
