Job Summary

The Group Enterprise Architect is a senior strategic leader responsible for aligning the company's technology vision and capabilities with its long-term business strategy. This role involves creating and governing the enterprise-wide architecture, ensuring that technology investments are synergistic, compliant, and future-proof. The Group Enterprise Architect will define the principles, standards, and roadmap that guide the development and implementation of all technology solutions across the VM Group, working closely with executive leadership to drive innovation and business value.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
CERTIFICATION
  • TOGAF or Zachman Certification

MINUMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Five (5) years’ experience as a technical team leader for a technical project or in a similar position 
  • Ten (10) years’ experience working with Information Technology projects

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Five (5) years experience working in a similar position
Functional/ Technical Skills
  • Ability to develop and articulate a clear technology vision and multi-year roadmap that aligns with business goals
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders, including C-suite executives. Skill in building consensus and influencing decisions without direct authority
  • Deep understanding of the financial services industry, including business models, and key operational capabilities
  • Experience with modern application development patterns, and enterprise data management principles.
  • Ability to understand and communicate the financial implications of technology and architecture decisions, including TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and ROI (Return on Investment) 
  • Experience in Mentorship and Leadership to lead technical staff
  • A forward-thinking mindset to identify and champion the adoption of new and emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, Cloud-Native, API ecosystems) that can create business value. 
  • Proficiency in modeling business capabilities, processes, data flows, and technology landscapes to create a clear and holistic view of the enterprise
  • Proven expertise in an enterprise architecture framework such as TOGAF or Zachman, including the ability to adapt them to the organization's needs 
  • A wide-ranging understanding of technology domains, including application architecture, data and analytics, infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity. The focus should be on breadth rather than deep expertise in a single area
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the company's enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and a multi-year roadmap that aligns with the Group's business objectives 
  • Lead the creation of a future-state technology landscape that addresses business needs while modernizing and simplifying the IT environment. 
  • Establish and lead an Architecture Review Board (ARB) or similar governance function to review and approve significant technology projects, ensuring they align with enterprise standards 
  • Define and enforce architecture principles, policies, standards, and patterns for the entire organization to follow (e.g., cloud-first principles, API standards, data integration patterns) 
  • Continuously research, evaluate, and champion emerging technologies and trends (e.g., AI/ML, blockchain, advanced analytics) and their potential value to the financial services business 
  • Conduct proof-of-concept projects for promising new technologies 
  • Create and maintain blueprints of the enterprise's business, data, application, and technology architectures
  • Ensure a holistic view across different business units to promote synergy, reduce redundancy, and manage dependencies 
  • Ensure that suitable technical documentation is prepared by the team in accordance with the VM Group IT standards 
  • Liaise with vendors and monitor deliverables 
  • Preparing monthly reports on the department’s performance - accomplishments, progress, problems for submission to the Vice President, Group ICT 
  • Continuously monitor the technology portfolio to ensure that it remains current, and relevant to the organizations business strategy 
  • Define and implement standards and best practices for the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integration, and security
