We're Hiring!

We are seeking a Geography and Social Studies Teacher to join our secondary-level team. The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers to provide specialized instructional support to students on Secondary Pathways II and III who require targeted intervention.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in Geography and Social Studies that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and global awareness.
  • Use varied teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Integrate technology and project-based learning to enhance instruction.
  • Foster discussions and activities that build students’ understanding of human, environmental, political, and cultural systems.
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
  • Track student progress using data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations, where applicable.
  • Establish and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and character development aligned with CHJ values.
  • Provide academic and social-emotional support to students as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and align curriculum units and assessments.
  • Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) to enhance instructional practices.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
  • Engage in school-wide events, parent meetings, and community initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Social Studies Education, or a related field (required)
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience at the secondary level (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to support instruction
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the Christel House mission
