General Manager

Overview:

Portmore United Football Club is seeking an experienced and visionary General Manager to lead the Club’s strategic, operational, and commercial development. This executive-level position will oversee all aspects of football operations, commercial partnerships, fan engagement, and financial performance ensuring the Club is competitive on the pitch and commercially successful off it.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the development and execution of the Club’s strategic plan.
  • Ensure alignment with ownership’s long-term vision, including community engagement and brand positioning.
  • Represent the Club at league, federation, and sponsor-level meetings.
  • Ensure full compliance with JFF, CFU, CONCACAF, and FIFA regulations.

2. Football Operations Oversight

  • Oversee coaching staff, technical directors, scouting, and player development.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach on player recruitment, contracts, and performance management.
  • Establish and manage performance metrics for both senior and youth teams.
  • Ensure medical, training, and player welfare systems are streamlined.

3. Commercial Development & Sponsorship

  • Drive revenue generation through sponsorships, merchandising, ticket sales, and events.
  • Build strategic partnerships with local and international brands.
  • Oversee marketing and fan engagement strategies to grow the supporter base.
  • Ensure the Club is positioned as a premier Jamaican sporting brand.

4. Financial Management & Reporting

  • Develop and manage the Club’s annual budget in coordination with the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost controls.
  • Ensure transparent financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and secure alternative revenue streams, including grants, media rights, and investments.

5. Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day Club operations, including staffing, facilities, and logistics.
  • Lead human resource functions including hiring, team culture, and compliance.
  • Implement systems for operational efficiency, safety, and performance tracking.

6. Community & Fan Engagement

  • Deepen the Club’s roots in Portmore and the wider Jamaican community.
  • Lead CSR initiatives, youth outreach, and school partnerships.
  • Champion fan experience improvements across digital and in-stadium platforms.

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years in a senior leadership role in professional sports or related industry.
  • Proven track record in football club management, sponsorship acquisition, and revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of Jamaican football ecosystem and international best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
