Our new General Manager will help us set up operations in Jamaica, expanding our successful business from Aruba & Curaçao. You will lead a team based out of our flagship villa resort on the northern coast, from where we will work on expanding to other parts of the company.
As our first hire in the country you will be the driving force behind successfully launching the Bocobay brand in Jamaica. You need to be an all-rounder who is as comfortable building and motivating teams as you are representing Bocobay in front of business partners and high net worth individuals. Simultaneously, you should love getting into the trenches when needed, providing frontline guest services or driving across the island to pick up a Christmas tree to make a guest’s stay truly unforgettable. In short, you’re a “buck-stops-with-me” kind of person who never says “that’s not my job”.
Bocobay is revolutionizing hospitality through innovative, tech-powered service and inspiring, thoughtfully designed accommodations combined into one seamlessly managed experience. Launched in 2020 in Aruba, Bocobay is a private-equity backed business bringing a new standard to the Caribbean vacation rental market. We are now set to expand to our third island, Jamaica.
As General Manager you are overseeing our local hospitality operation in Jamaica. Together with a small team you will be the vital link between our tried & tested Bocobay systems & processes and the implementation of 5-star guest experiences on the ground. Your operational base will be our flagship project of 26 brand-new luxury villas in Runaway Bay. From here you will coordinate all the work needed with both internal and external resources and bear the ultimate responsibility for guest and homeowner experience across the island. Your tasks will include ensuring a smooth operation of the entire resort including operation of the HOA, direct and indirect management of initially up to 80 staff, optimising operational efficiency and profitability, supporting homeowners and ensuring every guest leaves the island with a big smile on their face. The role is hands-on, meaning you will also assist guests with checking in, make them feel welcome, and provide tips and guidance on local activities and amenities.
As an early employee, you will have a significant opportunity to shape our operations in Jamaica and grow with the company. Starting from our base in Runaway Bay, we will expand to additional sites along the northern shores and potentially elsewhere on the island. This role is especially suited to an ambitious and talented hospitality operator, who has grown through the ranks in established luxury hospitality players in Jamaica and is looking for an opportunity to step up into a top leadership position.
Important to note: We are a young company with ambitious growth plans, and this is not a 9-to-5 role (at least not always). The nature of our business means that urgent requests can come in at all times, and while we always try to make sure our staff get sufficient rest and time off, hospitality hours can be long and unpredictable during peak times and as new projects launch. This reality is offset by flexibility around working hours during quiet times: Our default is to trust our employees, and we encourage you to make up for extra hours worked by clocking off early when there is the possibility to do so (coordinating with your team members).
