About the Role
The General Manager will be responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction of the retail business to drive revenue growth, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and profitability. Reporting directly to the Group’s Chief Operating Officer, this role requires strong leadership skills, creative thinking, incisive decision-making, sharp commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of retail operations, stakeholder management and customer engagement. Based in Kingston, this role will require regular travel to retail locations across Jamaica.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the overall retail strategy– sales, marketing, brand management, customer experience.
- Demonstrate drive and ownership in increasing net profitability.
- Lead retail operations island-wide.
- Set and achieve sales and P&L targets as well as other KPIs for the retail division.
- Monitor retail performance metrics, operational efficiency, and cost control across locations.
- Prepare and present monthly performance reports and strategic updates to the CEO and Board.
- Optimize pricing, inventory, and merchandising to increase profitability.
- Work closely with senior leadership across marketing, finance, HR, supply chain, procurement and IT.
- Analyze data regarding customer feedback and market trends.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of store managers and retail staff.
- Ensure a strong performance management culture with clear KPIs, coaching, and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, financial, and operational standards.
- Drive the adoption of digital tools and retail technologies to improve store performance and customer interaction.
About the Person
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in multi-store retail management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of driving sales growth and profitability in a retail environment.
- Strong understanding of retail and consumer landscape, ideally in hardware, home improvement, or similar sectors.
- Experience in leading large teams, change management, and strategic execution.
