JOB DESCRIPTION – General Manager - Coop's Trading
Role purpose
Own full P&L performance for Coop's Trading by maximizing sales and margin through disciplined procurement, inventory accuracy, pricing control, and reliable customer fulfillment of car care products.
Key responsibilities
P&L ownership and commercial performance
Deliver revenue, gross margin, and profit targets; control operating expenses.
Manage product mix and pricing strategy; protect margin and avoid discount leakage.
Build and maintain key accounts (B2B and retail) and manage sales pipeline.
Procurement and supplier management
Source suppliers, negotiate pricing/terms, manage contracts, and ensure reliable lead times.
Maintain reorder discipline and avoid stockouts on high-velocity items; coordinate credit terms with Finance.
Inventory control and warehouse operations
Maintain accurate stock records and controls over receiving, issuing, returns, and adjustments.
Track stock turns, dead stock, shrinkage, and expiry (if applicable); drive corrective actions.
Ensure pick/pack/delivery processes meet service standards and documentation requirements.
Controls and reporting
Ensure all transactions are captured accurately and on time; support month-end stock counts and reconciliations.
Report weekly on sales, margin, stock levels, and key risks to Group Ops and Finance.
Team leadership
Lead a small team with clear responsibilities and performance standards.
Train staff in inventory discipline, customer service, and system use
Qualifications and experience
7+ years experience in trading/wholesale/retail operations; leadership experience preferred.
Proven P&L ownership or strong commercial responsibility (sales and margin).
Strong inventory management and procurement negotiation skills.
Experience using inventory/procurement systems such as Odoo; QuickBooks familiarity preferred.
