J. Wray & Nephew Ltd., A Campari Group Company, invites applications for the position of General Ledger and Asset Accounting Manager, in the Finance Department.

Position Summary 

Reporting to the Senior Manager Accounting & Treasury, the GL and AA Manager assesses, monitors and manages the key business and accounting activities along with the relationship with the third-party service provider. The role also ensures that the financial systems and procedures adhere to Group Accounting policies and IFRS.

Performance Criteria

This job is satisfactorily performed when:

  • The accounting process meets it objective of timeliness and accuracy through the optimal use of the financial systems.
  • All reporting requirements are met.
  • JWN’s compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is maintained
  • Effectively manage relationship with service provider and manage OLA

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Manage the month end closing process to include monthly calendar, review of manual journals, review and analysis of the monthly trial balance, financial statements, and group reporting in conjunction with the service provider.
  • Investigate transactions in accounting records
  • Preparation of monthly managaement reports and other quarterly Group reports
  • Manage the Annual Audit process (HY,HC &YE) and liaise with external uuditors
  • Preparation of YE financials which are compliant with international Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Supports the Biannual 262 Compliance process
  • Investigate transactions in accounting records
  • Interfaces with the IT organization to ensure that process changes are integrated with systems changes
  • Work closely with the accounting staff, operations and third-party service provider to ensure that reporting requirements are met
  • Fixed asset monitoring and review to ensure compliance with requisite policy
  • Analyze and document business processes and problems
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement solutions from business process analysis and department projects to enhance efficiencies
  • Ad Hoc reporting and any other duties assigned

Accountability

  • Maintaining the integrity of the ERP
  • Ensuring the Financial systems and procedures adhere to best practices and are relevant
  • Introducing strategies to improve efficiency in order to achieve targeted goals
  • Ensure the smooth coordination of activities between the legal entity and the third party service provid

Key Relationships

Internal:  All JWN departments                                 

External: External Auditors, Third party service provider

Experience Required

  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a Senior Accounting position.

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • ACCA Certification or MSc. in Accounting or MBA in with concentration in Business Administration/ Accounting/Finance
