Ensure accurate financial records by reconciling bank accounts and maintaining the general ledger, identifying discrepancies, and supporting timely, compliant financial reporting.

Purpose of the Role

To ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the company’s financial records through timely reconciliation of accounts and detailed review of general ledger transactions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for assigned accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
  • Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger, ensuring accurate posting and classification of transactions
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable sub-ledgers to the General Ledger
  • Review General Ledger accounts for errors, omissions, and mis postings, and prepare necessary adjustments
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and corrections
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Support the preparation of VAT returns and tax schedules for assigned entities
  • Monitor and reconcile cash balances, including daily cash flow reporting
  • Conduct periodic cash counts and petty cash reconciliations to ensure compliance
  • Post and verify banking transactions and ensure alignment with financial records
  • Assist in the preparation of online payments and bank transfers, ensuring accuracy and proper authorization
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation filing systems
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and improve reconciliation processes
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of General Ledger functions and reconciliation processes
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies efficiently
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)

Qualifications and Experience

  • ACCA Level 1 (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance environment, with a focus on reconciliations and GL
  • Experience performing bank reconciliations and general ledger reviews
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems is an asset
  • Equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience will be considered
