Fixed Asset Superintendent

 

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for leading field maintenance, condition monitoring and reliability programmes and activities, driving and implementing maintenance excellence and industry best practices, ensuring reliability and optimization of Maintenance/Operations processing technology, continuous improvement in performance, operational efficiency and safety.

 

 

Main Responsibilities include:

 

  • Lead team of maintenance supervisors and technicians.
  • Coordinate and direct Field Maintenance, Condition Monitoring and Reliability maintenance programmes, activities and personnel to enable the timely, efficient and reliable repair of machinery and fixed plant infrastructure/equipment to support drying, railing and ship loading activities and the achievement of maintenance performance parameters. 
  • Direct routine, preventative and scheduled mechanical maintenance activities to meet scheduled timelines, required technical quality, compliance with company procedures and relevant maintenance standards and best practices.
    • Provide engineering leadership and management for the development and implementation of routine and major maintenance of plant infrastructure and installations. Direct/participate in new and/or modified installations. 
    • Provide mechanical engineering support necessary to implement the principles of Reliability Excellence to improve the reliability of process equipment.
    • Support and provide technical resource for the Plant's lubrication, vibration, and thermography programmes (requirements, frequencies, and methods of application and training).
    • Drive improvements, provide consultation and assistance to the maintenance and production departments regarding technically sound equipment maintenance and operating procedures, practices and techniques. Ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems associated with Plant production
    • Lead and facilitate the development of a proactive data-focused reliability culture in partnership with operations leaders.
    • Leading the department’s problem solving and Equipment Failure Analysis effort. Develop engineering solutions to equipment issues and failures with concentration on repetitive equipment failure elimination. Report on progress of required actions.
    • Analyze operational data and equipment performance history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics including: Reliability, PM effectiveness, MRO turns, downtime analysis, Mean-Time-Between-Failures, and maintenance related costs.
    • Liaise with mechanical and processing counterparts to define and support the development and implementation of capital projects within the Processing/Operations departments.
    • Implement maintenance processes that ensure that maintenance and project work across the plant are conducted in a safe, responsible and environmentally sound manner in compliance with all company procedures and regulatory requirements.
    • Support, develop, update and modify equipment repair standards, material specifications, bill of materials, equipment standards, etc.
    • Assist with annual maintenance and capital budget preparation.  Monitor and report on department spending.  Manage, develop and recommend systems and approaches to reduce maintenance costs. Ensure compliance with approved budget limits.

 

Required Competencies:

  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical systems, control and optimization
  • Well-developed troubleshooting and analytical skills – ability to devise repair options.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems
  • Strong, well-developed, supervisory skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports
  • Knowledge of engineering standards in particular statutory and mandatory tests and inspection requirements
  • Project management skills
  • Advanced proficiency with PC based software applications including MS Project, Excel and Access - ability to create presentations, charts, graphs and spreadsheets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least eight (10) years cumulated hands on experience in planning, controlling and leading the maintenance and repairs activities of large well-equipped mechanical maintenance facility.
  • At least five (5) years supervisory experience
