Job Summary:
The Fixed Asset Specialist manages the fixed asset processes, ensuring accurate updates to WIP files, asset registers, and CAPEX and vehicle logs in compliance with company policies and International Accounting Standards. Responsibilities include preparing monthly journals, coordinating asset disposals, conducting physical asset reviews, and resolving queries with internal and external stakeholders. The role supports decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to company policies and standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets.
· Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
· Assign tag numbers to fixed assets ensuring accurate description.
· Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
· Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
· Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
· Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets and review of useful life of assets.
· Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
· Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
· Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
· Conduct periodic physical counts of fixed assets and reconciliation to sub ledger.
· Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
· Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
· Prepare audit and tax fixed assets schedules.
· Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
Requirements
· ACCA Level l/2 or pursuing a degree in accounting.
· At least three years’ work experience in fixed assets /accounting field
· Computer Literate – Working knowledge of MS Office and a computerized financial application.
