Core purpose
The Financial Reporting Accountant reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will have the responsibility of providing Management and Financial reports for the Shared Service Group.
Key deliverables:
- To assist the Chief Financial Officer in achieving all reporting objectives
- To supply Monthly and Quarterly reports to the Leadership Team on business performance against budget and previous year.
- To assist with the preparation of the annual budget and other long-term financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
Budget & Reporting
- Assist with the development of the annual budget and latest estimates.
- Provide high quality analysis of P&L variances and other reports.
- Provide monthly reporting by collating information from various departments to ensure completeness and correctness.
- Provide quarterly reports – Stock Exchange report and analysis.
- Assist with preparations of the Audited Financial statements.
- Providing Statutory reports as required
- Ensure all reports are submitted within the deadline, and all resulting queries cleared.
- Prepare Journals as necessary.
- Provide recommendations to improve the quality and maintain the integrity of all Reporting Systems.
- Review processes to make them more efficient and effective – identify opportunities to maximize other operating Income streams.
Transaction Processing
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure GL deadlines are achieved.
- Assist with the audit process (both internal and external).
- In the absence of the Finance manager the role is required to execute those responsibilities.
- Assist with the renewal of the Company’s insurance.
Other
- Any other duty as required.
Key Requirements
Qualification
- A minimum of a First degree with accounting major.
- ACCA / CPA certification.
- A minimum of 5 years’ reporting experience including general ledger.
- Supervisory experience.
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of good accounting practices especially IFRS.
- Possess budgetary skills.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Computer literate, skilled in QuickBooks, MS Suite (Excel, Word, Power point to name a few), Microsoft Dynamic, POS systems, spread sheet and other applications.
- Sound internal control systems.
- Experience with company taxation would be an asset.
- Effective communicator both orally and written.
