Overview: Our client is Barbados’ largest general insurance provider, writing business in all areas of general insurance including, Property, Liability, Accident, Motor, Marine, Aviation and Transit Insurance. They also offer insurance coverage for Individual and Group Life, Individual and Group Health, Annuities, Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs) and Individual and Group Pensions. Due to growth, they are seeking to recruit a proven professional with key skills to perform this key strategic function.
The successful applicant will be based in the Barbados Office and be employed on an initial three (3) month contract starting in October/November 2025, converting to a permanent role thereafter.
CORE FUNCTION: The Financial Planning Analyst will support the Finance Business Unit in delivering high-impact financial planning, analysis, and reporting to drive strategic decision-making across the organization. This role will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, and strategic initiatives, helping the company achieve its financial and operational objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of rolling forecasts and annual budgets.
- Support scenario planning and stress testing to evaluate financial outcomes under varying conditions.
- Collaborate with business units to gather inputs and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Conduct variance analysis (Budget vs. Actual, Year-over-Year) across business lines and territories.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to business plans, SWOT analyses, and strategy updates in collaboration with business units.
- Support the preparation of presentations and schedules for external stakeholders (e.g., AM Best).
- Assist in evaluating market position and competitor strategies using ethical intelligence gathering.
- Work closely with the Senior Financial Analyst and cross-functional teams to ensure financial insights are understood and actionable.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly through written reports and presentations.
- Participate in FP&A team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent degree in a related discipline.
- 2-4 years of experience in financial planning & analysis or related roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Proficiency in financial systems and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Experience in an insurance environment would be an asset.
