JOB SUMMARY

Overall, the incumbent is accountable for the preparation of Group Financial accounts, Group Budgets and Forecast. Additionally, the incumbent works closely with the C.F.O. on cash and treasury management.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares Group Financial Accounts by the 10th working day of the new month. This includes Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and all the appropriate supporting schedules.
  • Prepares Group Financial Accounts consistent with the Group’s Accounting Policies and Standards. Additionally, the incumbent must be up to date on all technical accounting that may impact the business including International Financial Reporting Standards and taxation laws.
  • Ensures compliance with Group Reporting Standards and all internal controls and standards are met on a monthly basis, including compliance with Group Report format, reconciliation of inter-company balances, appropriate supporting schedules for financial statement, certification that all internal controls have been reviewed and performed, and that timelines of reporting deadlines are met.
  • Implements financial controls, policies and procedures manuals to improve the Company’s overall operational efficiency and ensures adherence to same by all markets.
  • Works with the C.F.O. on treasury and cash management.
  • Prepares the Group’s Forecast and Budgets including the following:-
    • Prepares the Forecast and Budget of PHL Trinidad with the guidance of the C.F.O.
    • Consolidates the forecast budgets of subsidiaries after being approved by the C.F.O.
    • Prepares Group Forecast Cash Flow and Balance Sheet.
  • Provides business leadership by working closely with other functions to drive increased sales, and reduced costs and achieve short and long term growth targets; trains other functions in how to use and interpret key financial information; actively engages senior and operations management in discussions/plans to turn around poor performing stores.
  • Performs a detailed analysis of the Trinidad and Tobago businesses including trending and variances against plan and budgets.
  • Performs day to day Cash Management including timely payments of suppliers, collecting of receivables and timeliness of cash deposits.
  • Leads the preparation of the Company’s Annual Financial Statements and ensures that all requirements of the external auditing firm are met.
  • Builds and drives performance culture deep into the finance department; ensures alignment through defined individual and team objectives and reviews quarterly.
  • Ensures that accountabilities within and between functions are clearly established.
  • Assists in the hiring and orientation of direct-report employees; trains, supervises, counsels and evaluates direct-report employee; conducts performance appraisals and recommends pay adjustments as appropriate.
  • Ensures that all statutory requirements, as applicable to the laws of Trinidad and Tobago, are fully in place and adhered to including Corporate Taxation, Business Levy, PAYE and VAT.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • ACCA qualified.
  • A minimum of five (5) years managing a medium to large finance department.
  • Working knowledge of System Dynamics/Great Plains is mandatory.
  • Experience in the preparation of the Group Financial Accounts including consolidation and working with consolidation packages.
