Financial Controller

To direct and oversee all financial operations of the organization, ensuring effective planning, implementation, control, and reporting of financial activities in compliance with statutory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Accountabilities: 

• Advise the Board of Directors and senior management on the financial implications of business decisions, providing insights to enhance strategic performance and long-term sustainability.
• Lead the formulation and implementation of financial strategies, plans, and policies aligned with the company’s short, medium, and long-term business objectives.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support informed decision-making and resource optimization.
• Provide oversight for all company funds, assets, and investments, ensuring effective financial management and reporting on financial stability and performance.
• Advise on sources of financing, negotiate major financial agreements, and support the structuring of project financing arrangements.
• Ensure robust internal controls, governance, and risk management systems are in place to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and audit requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, regulators, financial institutions, and key stakeholders to uphold transparency and accountability.
• Drive adherence to HSEQ standards and promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Finance Department to ensure sound financial management, effective controls, and alignment with the organization’s overall objectives.
• Direct the preparation, monitoring, and control of financial budgets to ensure cost efficiency and financial discipline.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and cost-effectiveness across support functions.
• Develop and implement performance goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting systems to measure and manage department performance.
• Undertakes any other assignments required from time to time, to fulfill the job purpose.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related discipline (Master’s Degree preferred)

Professional qualification in a related field such as CPA or ACCA

AND

A minimum of twenty (20) years’ experience in Financial or Accounting field at a Managerial level.; 5+ years in senior management capacity.
