Lydford Logistics Ltd. is one of Jamaica's premier agriculture and food processing facilities. With over 200,000 sq. ft. of warehousing, we provide services for cold, chilled, and dry storage as well as third-party logistics.

 

Lydford Logistics Ltd. is seeking an experienced and highly analytical financial professional to join our team in St. Ann, Jamaica as a Financial Controller. Under the direction of the Group General Manager, you will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity of our financial systems, preparing critical financial reports, and overseeing our month-end and year-end accounting processes. 

About the Role 

The Financial Controller will be responsible for preparing financial reports and statements, managing bank reconciliations, conducting cyclical audits, and providing insightful financial information to management through in-depth research and analysis of accounting data. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and compliance of all financial transactions, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles and our internal policies.

This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute directly to the financial health and strategic decision-making of the organization. Success in this role means consistently meeting deadlines, demonstrating a high degree of integrity and confidentiality, and actively contributing to the achievement of financial and accounting objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of month-end close activities for all companies within the group.

  • Compile and analyze financial information, preparing monthly financial reports for submission to the Group General Manager & Group Chairman.

  • Ensure the maintenance and integrity of the organization’s accounting system by reviewing the validity, documentation, and propriety of all accounting transactions.

  • Assist with the processing of management payrolls monthly, including printing deduction reports and uploading payroll journals.

  • Carry out annual close in the payroll program and prepare Annual Returns.

  • Analyze receipt credit clearing general ledger account(s) and prepare sales adjustment journals.

  • Prepare the monthly cost of goods sold package, analyze cost data, and resolve inventory discrepancies.

  • Create ad-hoc reports for various business needs.

  • Prepare tax documents and manage budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Perform other duties as required to support the financial operations.

 

What We're Looking For 

We are seeking a candidate with strong interpersonal skills and a robust business acumen, who enjoys problem-solving and demonstrates well-developed critical thinking.

 

Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

 

  • ACCA Level 2 or higher, or a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals.

  • Sound knowledge of EDP & ERP systems and their applications.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Proficiency using Sage 300, Quickbooks, and Oracle NetSuite accounting software.

  • Strong working knowledge of MyHR+ software.

  • Seven (7) years’ experience in a similar capacity, preferably in a manufacturing & supply chain environment. Experience working with start-ups is an advantage.
