To oversee and direct the accounting and financial functions of the overall operation; recognizing methods to improve the Company’s profit margin and overall sustainability in accordance with the strategy defined for the business and the Caribbean region as a whole.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:

  • Organize and prepare annual budgets; coordinating the preparation of departmental budgets and compiling these for the business as a whole in addition to contributing to the preparation of the Company’s Business plan/strategy.
  • Monitor and update financial forecasts, ensuring budgetary compliance and reviewing of budget variances and updates whilst providing guidance to align business performance.
  • To guide the finance division/team and oversee the financial accounting processes to determine and achieve optimum efficiencies.
  • Source and manage the required funding to ensure that there are no shortfalls in meeting financial obligations to achieve cashflow targets and fund capital expenditure.
  • Seek reasonable investment products and negotiate rates in the best interest of the company to ensure cost savings and maximize gains for the Company.
  • Management of the Corporate Tax Return process, corporate deductions and allowance to leverage tax benefit and manage the Company’s insurance.
  • Review and present management accounts and business performance reports to the key stakeholders to allow for business analyses and sound business decision making.
  • Lead and execute both Internal and External audits with minimum supervision.
  • Review internal controls on a continuous basis and identify areas of weaknesses in the systems and processes; ensuring proper checks and balances are in place.
  • Lead and manage the finance team to maximize individual and team performance and develop capable teams and managers.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Qualification/Education and Experience:

  • Graduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline ACCA or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience within the Finance or Accounting function at a management level in a retail or commercial operation.
  • Full understanding of tax and tax computations for business including tax planning.
  • Must be organized, persistent and committed, detail-oriented, able to cope well in stress-related environments and possess computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to perform complex analyses on numerical data and accounting information.
  • Excellent analytical skills.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good reporting writing skills
  • Computer literate with exposure to General Ledger, POS and Spreadsheet applications
  • Knowledge of financial markets and treasury functions
  • Understanding of investment appraisals
  • Analytical mind, detailed, problem solver
  • Strong commitment to good ethical practice
