Job Summary:The Finance Manager oversees all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, budgeting, and cash flow management. The role provides strategic financial guidance, supervises accounting staff, and supports decision-making to achieve organizational goals.
Purpose of the Role:
The Finance Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all financial operations of the organization. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, provides timely financial reports, manages budgets, and guides strategic financial decisions to support the company’s overall objectives. It involves oversight of the accounting systems, internal controls, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the Finance and Accounts Department and supervise accounting and traffic personnel.
Prepare and present financial statements, cash flow projections, and management reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Develop and manage the annual budget, monitor performance against financial targets, and provide analytical insight for strategic decisions.
Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory obligations, including payroll deductions, GCT, and other statutory payments.
Manage accounts receivable and payable processes to maintain strong financial control and ensure timely payments.
Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare audit schedules, and ensure implementation of recommendations.
Support policy development, internal control systems, and compliance across all departments.
Provide leadership, coaching, and training to the accounting team.
Collaborate with senior management and external stakeholders such as banks, clients, and regulatory bodies.
Key Outputs:
Accurate and timely financial reports, schedules, budgets, payroll, tax filings, and audit documents.
Performance Indicators:
Monthly reports submitted by the 20th of each month.
Timely payment of vendors and statutory deductions.
Submission of annual budgets and maintenance of valid tax compliance certification.
Mid-year and annual performance evaluations completed for direct reports.
Competencies:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Visual Traffic) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Integrity, confidentiality, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure.
Qualifications and Experience:
Certified or master’s degree in accounting.
Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role, including at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
Proven expertise in financial management, compliance, and reporting.
