Finance Manager

The Finance Manager will oversee the accounting operations, ensure accurate maintenance of financial records and prepare and submitting financial reports, provide strategic financial leadership, guidance, and oversight in support of the company’s mission and strategic objectives.

Our client, a medium-sized entity operating in the financial industry, is seeking to recruit and retain a suitable and experienced individual for the position of Finance Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Finance Manager will play a vital role in overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring the accurate maintenance of all financial records and preparing and submitting timely financial reports.  The role also provides strategic financial leadership, guidance, and oversight in support of the company’s mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, performing the following key functions:

¨      Develop and execute financial plans, budgets, and forecasts in line with strategic objectives;

¨      Perform financial analysis, reporting, and monitoring of key metrics to enhance efficiency and track progress;

¨      Responsible for asset and liability management to include but not limited to investing or disposal of investments,asset allocation, liquidity and interest rate risk;

¨      Coordinate all audits and examinations conducted by external auditors, regulators, and supervisory agencies; 

¨      Ensure the company meets all regulatory and filing obligations, including financial statement preparation andmonthly/year-end close processes;

¨      Ensure compliance with accounting policies and timely fulfillment of monthly, quarterly, and annual financialobligations, including budget preparation and management;

¨      Evaluate investment opportunities in line with the company’s strategic objectives;

¨      Attendance at all key internal and external meetings;

¨      Drive continuous improvement and innovation in financial processes, systems, and controls;

¨      Implement strategies and policies to enhance company operations, drive growth, and support its mission and goals

¨      Foster a values-driven culture that promotes a positive work environment, high performance, continuous learning,and employee engagement;

¨      Provide strong and effective leadership by modeling the desired mindset, behaviors, and values in alignment withthe company’s standards;

¨      Participate in the preparation of Enterprise Risk Management Strategies and Business Continuity Plans;

¨      Preparation of statistical and accounting data to include financial and statistical reports, corporate tax;

¨      Collaborate with HR to identify cost-effective employee benefits and incentives that attract and retain top talentaligned with the company’s success;

Qualifications & Skills Required

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

¨       Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; a Masters Degree or MBA would be preferred

¨       Member of the Chartered Management Institute, ACCA, CMA, CPA or similar professional organization, partially qualified or willingness to study for the required qualification may be considered;

¨       Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a large organization, preferably in a leadership position in financial services, with a focus on credit unions or community banking;

¨       Demonstrated experience working with cash flow management, debt funding, risk analysis and risk management

¨       Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills;

¨       Competent in use of current Microsoft Office Suite products and in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Accounting Software e.g. MDSL, Peach Tree or Solomon;

¨       Strong leadership, management, verbal and written communication skills;
