Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Insurance Accounting team in the capacity of:
Finance Manager – Insurance Accounting (Contract) (Grade 4)
Provide overall management support of team members and support Assistant Vice President Insurance Accounting.
Oversee and be responsible for the full financial reporting function of Sagicor Life of the Cayman Islands, Sagicor Insurance Brokers and Sagicor International Administrators Limited.
Provide support to the AVP for financial reporting functions of Sagicor Life Jamaica
Location: Kingston
As a Finance Manager – Insurance Accounting, you will:
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements for Sagicor Life Jamaica (SLJ) and Sagicor Life of the Cayman Islands (SLC).
- Review monthly financial statements for Sagicor Insurance Brokers (SIB) and Sagicor International Administrators Limited (SIAL).
- Achieve audit clearance for SGJ consolidated financials.
- Oversee the processes to substantially reduce insurance suspense accounts balance.
- Be responsible for the preparation of intercompany reconciliations in both life insurance companies.
- Review monthly reconciliations of sub-ledger to general for Investment Contracts in both life companies and review the preparation of quarterly interest accruals.
- Manage the collection of general ledger receivables from third parties in both life companies.
- Provide support to the Management Accounting and Budgeting team in the preparation of annual budget and forecasts for both life companies
- Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Completion of ACCA or CPA or equivalent qualification from a recognized professional body or tertiary institution.
- A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ working experience in an accounting managerial position. Insurance industry experience is advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Sound knowledge of financial industry, financial accounting practices and standards in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Must be able to work on your own initiative and make excellent financial management decisions.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact credibly and comfortable at all levels.
- Good human relations skills.
- Attention to details and excellent time management skills.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and financial analytical skills.
