About the Role

The Finance Director is a key member of the Senior Management Team and serves as a strategic partner to the Managing Director and other members of the leadership team. This pivotal role provides both operational and programmatic leadership across all financial functions, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and long-term organizational sustainability. The Finance Director will oversee the Finance & Accounts team and serve as the primary point of accountability and advice for budget management, all financial reporting, forecasting, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, compliance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead Toyota Jamaica’s financial management in order to achieve sustainable growth

  • Attend Board and scheduled Review meetings; including being the lead staff on the Finance Committee

  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, shareholder reports ie. KPI, TORES, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets

  • Assess the benefits of all prospective contracts and advise the Executive Team on programmatic design and implementation matters

  • Responsible for ensuring that adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits

  • Collaborate on the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions, and staff salaries

  • Investigate cost-effective benefit plans and other fringe benefits which the organization may offer employees and potential employees with the goal of attracting and retaining top talent

  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard the organization’s financial assets

  • Collaborate in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.

  • Provide the MD and related authorized parties with an operating budget and recommendations from proper forecasting analysis

  •  Collaborate with the MD to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements. This includes: 

  1.  interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all local and shareholder guidelines

  2. ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel 

  3. monitoring compliance

  • Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance standards are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with GAAP and IFRS required supplementary schedules and information

  • Oversee and encourage training and development of the Finance Unit and other relevant staff, raising awareness and knowledge of matters related to financial management

  • Monitor the organization’s banking activities and cash flow

  • Oversee all purchasing and payroll activity for staff and participants

  •  Oversee the production of monthly reports including reconciliations of financial statements and cash flow projections for use by Executive management, as well as the Finance Committee and Board of Directors

  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring a disaster recovery plan is in place

  •  Oversee business insurance plans and healthcare coverage analysis

  •  Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, assuring all are in accordance with IFRS and TTC Management Guidelines

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience as a senior financial analyst with prior supervisory responsibility of the Accounting and other reporting functions

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (preferred)

  • Strong technical orientation, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to deliver basic training

  • Good communication (oral and written) skills

  • Demonstrated customer-centric approach, professionalism, and patience

  • Corporate Secretarial experience is an asset
