This position is responsible for conducting site visit to customer locations to determine if the electricity consumed by the customer is accurately recorded on the meter.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for conducting site visit to customer locations to determine if the electricity consumed by the customer is accurately recorded on the meter.  As well as to detect irregularities and make arrangements for customers to visit the JPS offices to discuss arrears and make payment. 

EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

  1.  Secondary school education inclusive of four (4) GCE O’Level/CXC General Proficiency subjects preferably English Language and Mathematics.
  2.  Vocational training certificate in Electrical Technology or Electrical Installation from a recognized institution.
  3.  Good human relations, communication and supervisory skills.

EXPERIENCE AND LEARNED DISCIPLINE

  1.  At least one (1) year related experience within JPS or a comparable organization
  2. Computer literacy
  3.  Holder of a valid General Driver's license.
  4.  On the job training to include:
  • Knowledge of terms and conditions of supply.
  • An appreciation of the Government's Electric Lighting Act requirements.
  • Knowledge of the usage of electrical testing equipment.
  • Debt collection techniques.
  • Understanding of billing procedures.
  • Training in customer service techniques

 ELEMENTS OF MAJOR DUTIES

  1.  Analyses load capacity and correct single phasing as necessary
  2.  Prepares site visit report on the prescribed form outlining full details of each investigation.       
  3.  Collects cheques on the Company's behalf in the event that the customer is willing to pay.
  4.  Accesses cu.stomers' premises to conduct the necessary checks
  5.  Issues re-location notices, meter change letters, defective meter socket and facilities and notification of irregularities
