JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician is responsible for executing preventative and corrective maintenance activities across all retail locations and associated facilities. The role ensures that all physical assets, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained in optimal operating condition to support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted business operations.

The incumbent must be proactive, solution-driven, highly technical, and results-oriented, applying logical reasoning, systematic problem-solving, and critical thinking to all maintenance tasks. The role requires strict adherence to the organization’s core values of Accountability, Care, and Trust.

JOB DUTIES

1. Facilities Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections of retail stores, warehouses, and offices.
  • Execute general repairs including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, tiling, and minor civil works.
  • Diagnose faults and implement corrective measures in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain detailed service logs and maintenance records.

2. Equipment Maintenance

  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on operational equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Coordinate with approved external contractors where specialized repairs are required.
  • Ensure all equipment operates within manufacturer specifications.

3. Refrigeration & HVAC Systems

  • Perform routine inspection and servicing of refrigeration units.
  • Monitor temperature control systems to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems to ensure proper ventilation and climate control.
  • Coordinate major repairs or installations with certified technicians when necessary.

4. Janitorial & Housekeeping Oversight

  • Support and monitor janitorial services to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment is operational and maintained.
  • Assist with hygiene compliance requirements across retail locations.

5. Pest Control & Landscaping

  • Coordinate pest control schedules and ensure treatment effectiveness.
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential infestation risks.
  • Support landscaping maintenance to maintain brand image and property aesthetics.
  • Monitor contractors for performance and compliance.

6. Store Relocations & Development Support

  • Assist with store relocations, renovations, and new store openings.
  • Support fit-out activities and installations during development projects.
  • Ensure facilities readiness prior to store handover.
  • Provide technical input during site assessments and project planning.

7. Support to Other Functions

Development

  • Assist in construction oversight and snag list resolution.
  • Provide technical evaluations of infrastructure during expansion.

Security

  • Support installation and maintenance of CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Support external Guard Patrol activities through reporting, supervision and problem solving.
  • Ensure physical security infrastructure remains functional.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety inspections and audits.

Fleet

  • Provide minor maintenance support to company vehicles (where applicable).
  • Assist in coordinating vehicle servicing and upkeep.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Technical certification or diploma in Facilities Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in retail, commercial, or industrial environments.
  • Experience with refrigeration and HVAC systems preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, civil).
  • Valid driver’s license with defensive driving certificate.
