JOB SUMMARY

The Project Engineer in the Facilities and Development Department is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing and executing Facilities Management projects, Development project. This position requires a strategic, technical, and collaborative professional who can lead cross-functional teams, align projects with organizational goals, and deliver high-quality outcomes that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. The Project Engineer will utilize engineering expertise, project management methodologies, and leadership skills to drive the successful completion of retail development projects. Technical skills will be utilized to support all other Department functions to ensure the achievement of all objectives.

JOB DUTIES

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Initiation: Develop feasibility studies, engage in site selection for new Stores, conduct market research, perform return on investment analysis and other activities in this Project Phase.
  • Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, for projects such as new store construction, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Budget Management: Ensure cost-effective project delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., design, operations, finance, and marketing) and external stakeholders (e.g., contractors, architects, and vendors) to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Performance Tracking: Utilize project management tools and techniques (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Excel, or similar) to monitor progress, track milestones, and report on key performance indicators (KP|s) to leadership.
  • Closeout and Evaluation: Oversee project closeout, including final inspections, documentation, and post-project evaluations to ensure quality standards and lessons learned are documented. 

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

  • Operational Oversight: Manage the maintenance, repair, and optimization of retail facilities to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of facility systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Environmental and Sustainability Initiatives: Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices into facility operations and project designs to align with corporate environmental goals.
  • Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts and oversee third-party vendors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
  • Leases and Acquisitions: Prepare, coordinate and review leasing arrangements to ensure budgetary and strategic objectives.
  • Document Control and Management: Create, manage and administer standard operating procedures for processes within the Facilities Management system. 

LEADERSHIP, TEAM COLLABORATION AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Leads cross functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes accountability and innovation.
  • Deliver clear, concise and regular updates to Manager, team members and external partners on project status, challenges and successes.
  • Adress team and stakeholder conflicts constructively ensuring alignment with project goals and organizational values.
  • Apply engineering principles to oversee the design, construction and commissioning of Projects. Ensuring alignment with technical specifications and brand standards.
  • Conduct technical reviews on innovations and manage the integration of complex systems to ensure compliance to standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline. A Master’s degree or PMP certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, facilities management, engineering, or construction.
  • Proven track record in leading complex projects from inception to completion, including new site development and facility upgrades.
