The Export Sales Manager is generally accountable for increasing National Flour Mills Limited’s profitability by expanding the portfolio in our current markets

The incumbent will also be responsible for identifying and developing new export markets, negotiating contracts, managing customer relationships and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

National Flour Mills Limited (NFM) is a publicly listed food manufacturing company and the leading flour milling, dry mix and animal feed producer in Trinidad and Tobago. The Company serves domestic and regional markets and is expanding its presence across Caribbean and international export markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manages the export sales portfolio including the distribution of NFM’s products in regional and international markets; identifies new markets for customer base expansion
  2. Provides oversight to the export sales team so that both current and new market portfolios are adequately serviced
  3. Establishes effective distributor partnerships to facilitate product distribution across regional and international markets as per agreed sales volume and revenue targets
  4. Designs, implements and manages export sales strategies, including the development of an effective sales plan for target achievement
  5. Negotiates distributor pricing to establish fair pricing policy, while delivering on profitability targets in the markets where NFM operates. Manages market pricing through the use of Value Chain Analysis and in-market research
  6. Monitors and analyses market trends and develop sales and marketing strategies for effective product distribution
  7. Manages Distributors’ Stock and Sales and liaises with the production/operation department to forecast export sales as per distributor/customer demand, for the achievement of on time and in full (OTIF) objectives
  8. Ensures execution of all marketing activities/campaigns are completed within agreed budgets
  9. Manages the fulfilment of export sales transactions, providing quotations and monitoring compliance with NFM’s payment and collections policies
  10. Oversees the receipt and processing of export sales orders via the Company’s Production Planning and Operations functions
  11. Reviews paperwork and related documentation for accuracy to expedite the export sales and order delivery process
  12. Ensures that all market sales, quality, and order delivery issues/complaints are resolved on a timely basis
  13. Ensures that billing arrangements are completed and follows up on payment terms and conditions as required
  14. Provides supervision and training to unit staff members
  15. Performs other duties as required by the job function

 REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing, or related filed
  • A Master’s Degree, an MBA, or post-graduate qualification, will be an asset
  • Seven (7) years demonstrable experience in export sales or business development of which five (5) years should be at a leadership and strategic decision-making level in a food manufacturing or related industry
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Sound knowledge of the flour and feed industry and the regional markets
  • Above-average knowledge of the Trademarks Act and of Governmental Bi-lateral trade and export arrangements
  • Above-average knowledge of customs requirements in regional and extra-regional markets
  • Strong knowledge of consumer market dynamics
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of promoting and selling products or services
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Understanding of applicable GMP, Food Safety and HACCP requirements
  • Knowledge of distributor contract requirements in the regional and extra-regional markets
  • Demonstratable ability in growing sales
  • Ability to communicate in a foreign language (Spanish or French) will be an asset
